Is there sparring or hard contact made when training?
Yes.
We make controlled contact to invoke realism and to test if what we train is effective. Sparring of different forms is implemented to provide an understanding of range, fluidity, power, and control.

All sparring is instructed in a manner to avoid injury. Sparring is intended to develop controlled cooridnation as well as power and build confidence as we learn proper application of technique.

With this said, effective techniques often include strikes or takedowns that would create too much risk at full speed.
This is where the addition of controlled flow drills take importance.
